In accordance with EN 1063, the different resistance classes (BR1 – BR7 und SG1 – SG2) are further subdivided into two categories.

An armoured glass is awarded the title “no spall” (NS) if no glass splinters off the protective side during ballistic testing. Should the tested material splinter-off glass, the testing result is supplemented with the title “spall” (S : spall).
