SILATEC's secure glass-polycarbonate-glass composite

At SILATEC, we have been working with glass for 30 years.

We have made it hard. It is burglary-resistant and offers ballistic protection.

SILATEC Security Glass is a laminated glass consisting of various highly transparent and extremely resistant materials.

Thanks to an ideal combination of glass, polyurethane and polycarbonate, SILATEC Security Glass has decisive advantages over conventional armoured glass.

SILATEC Security Glass is:
more secure
thinner
lighter
colour-neutral
UV-impervious
Security Glass by SILATEC:

We have focussed on offering unique solutions in glass for security problems that are becoming greater all the time. Apart from "Standard solutions", you may find options of individual security solutions that our manufactory offers. Each and every SILATEC Security Glass is made to measure one piece at a time. In this way, we are able to meet even the most unusual requests.
Naturally, this homepage does not aspire to replace our consulting services. Our experienced specialists are at your disposal on site, everywhere. The earlier we are integrated into the planning process, the better.

Burglary Protection:
One of the fundamental rules of security technology goes as follows: the basic mechanical security of the object must always be the essential foundation of each respective security concept. Electronic security applications can only supplement a mechanical security device; they can however never replace them. Sound mechanical security applications confront every assailant with a high level of resistance and lead to time delays. They are also not prone to false alarms. This is why criminal police experts always give priority to basic mechanical protection over electronic systems. Our burglar-proof security glass ensures the highest level of burglary protection possible and is especially well-suited for glazing in private homes and particularly endangered objects, art galleries, museums, computer centres, banks and jewellers.

Products:
SILATEC Security Glass is a laminated glass consisting of various highly transparent and extremely resistant materials. Thanks to an ideal combination of glass, polyurethane and polycarbonate, SILATEC Security Glass has decisive advantages over conventional armoured glass. It is a lot more secure, lighter, thinner, more colour-neutral and UV-impervious.

Our burglar-proof security glazing has been tested and certified in accordance with EN 356 as well as by the VdS Schadenverhütung (VdS Loss Prevention). If such security glazing is implemented within the scope of the insurances, compliance with the guidelines of the VdS Schadenverhütung is obligatory; the same applies to such constraints as are issued by the insuring parties. This is why we absolutely recommend that you only implement certified glazing, preferably such that has a VdS certificate.

We test our bullet-proof security glass sheets at the national ‘Prüfstelle für Waffen- und Sicherheitstechnik’ (testing laboratory for weapons and security technology). For the ballistic test, sheets of glass sized 50 x 50 cm are fixed into a fastening device and are tested for their penetration-proof characteristics. Thereby, the armoured glass retains three respective hits that are fired on the centre; the hits form an isosceles triangle with a distance of 120 mm. The impact angle is 90° and the distance of the shot is 5 m i.e. 10 m, depending on the resistance class. The projectile must not penetrate the tested security glass. The standard defines various resistance classes, each of which are sub-divided into a further two categories. If no spall comes off the protective side of the tested glass sheet, it is awarded the surplus title ‘NS’ (NS = no spall) aside from the ballistic class. If however, glass spalls off the protective side, the test result is supplemented with ‘S’ (S = spall).
